Universities stuff

I'm feeling a bit relieved since I've submitted most of my university applications now. The processes were darn troublesome and tiring since I had to run here and there. Anyways, here is the list of universities I have applied for:

University of Malaya (UM)
National University of Malaysia (UKM)
Multimedia University (MMU)
University of Malaysia, Pahang (UMP)
Technical University of Malaysia, Malacca (UTeM)
SEGi University College (got accepted into the main campus in Kota Damansara for UK degree but it's just a backup)

While these are the ones which I'm going to apply for as well:

Tenaga Nasional University (UNITEN)
Management and Science University (MSU)

I really hope I can get into UM, UKM or MMU but I feel thankful because if I fail to enter all the universities I want, I can still enter SEGi for sure. XD

Again?

It has been raining every day for the past week. In fact, it still rains a bit now. Sigh. Seems like it's going to flood again soon during Chinese New Year. Well, that is what my friend told me from what he heard from the radio.

Obviously, the cold weather is extremely cozy for lazing around but it's preventing me from hanging out with friends as well. It's not like I can't go out on rainy days though. I can but it's definitely not going to be too fun, right?

So, here I am. Stuck inside the house for days and I'm slowly turning into a hikikomori. Those who have watched Welcome to the NHK before will definitely know the meaning of that term. I have been spending most of my time in front of my PC and gaming. I need a new memory stick. Lol.

Well, there goes my original plan of enhancing my piano skills in these few months of my uber long holiday. Whenever I wanted to get started, I would get distracted by something else. Yeah, that is the main reason why I can never finish playing a song up until today XD

Ah well, I'm off for something else now. Until next time, people.

-NOT- absolute freedom

My final paper for Malaysian HCS examination ended at 9:45 am today. The feeling was seriously awesome. How should I put it? It was like as if we have been freed from a prison. Well yeah, my school was like a jail to all its students because there would be new rules appearing out of nowhere for nearly every month. Even bangs aren't allowed among girls and apparently, we were not allowed to stand outside the corridors of our blocks unless we provided reasons why we wanted to be there x_X

The last paper for today was Chemistry 1 and wow, it was pretty tough but still couldn't beat the previous Pure Math papers. What's done is done anyways. Everyone seems to be busy planning for their holidays. Some of my friends are going to travel in group and some are going to do part time jobs considering that we will be having a long holiday.

What I can't really wait for now is tomorrow! Yes, the day when I will head to KL with my family to visit my relatives and friends. It has been over a year since I last met them. I wonder how are they now?

Me and my friends even planned to celebrate New Year at our former teacher, Mdm. Ann's house once I've returned. Actually, she invited all of us to go to her house on Christmas but then again, I will not be here by that time and some of my friends can't make it as well. It's going to be an epic celebration if everything goes well. I'm really looking forward to it :D

90/10 Principle

Mr. David showed us lots of videos the other day and among all of them, there was one which caught my attention. It was a video about Stephen Covey's 90/10 Principle.

It's true, right? We have no control over certain things in life but we can change what will happen after.

Let's take for an example of what happened to me before. My scientific calculator got stolen just on the last day of exam. I left it in my bag which was placed in another place since the next paper didn't require the use of that device. I couldn't bring it to the examination hall anyway. By the time I noticed that, it was too late to look for the thief. I blamed the teachers who were in charged of taking care of our bags. Where were they? Slacking off just because they felt that there were nothing important about our stuff? I had a real bad day and come to think of it now, I pity those innocent people I've scolded on that day. Lol. What if I gave the opposite reaction? Perhaps, I wouldn't end up ranting and getting mad at people at that time and my day wouldn't be ruined.

Recently, before I knew the existence of this interesting principle, another incident occurred. My sister borrowed my scientific calculator since for some reasons, I own 2 of those. After some time, she returned it and guess what, the calculator was half dead. There were scratches everywhere and the thing itself couldn't be covered properly. I didn't go havoc though. I just took it back without complaining because I knew it was useless. I continued enjoying the rest of the day like normal and managed to have some fun.

See the difference? When I first found out about Stephen Covey's principle, I agreed with it right away for I have experienced it myself. I must admit that it's hard to apply the concept but it's worth your energy and patience :D

Reunion day?

So, I went out with Jennifer this morning because she said our trainers from National Service were coming back to Sibu. Actually, the two of us were in the same camp before but Jennifer was placed in the first batch while I was in the second one. I only knew her when I first entered school last year. That's the reason why we had the same trainers. It was quite nice. We got to see Mr. Hasrol and Mr. Muran. They hadn't changed a bit. Lol. Mr. Muran still had that serious expression on his face. Too bad the other trainers and commandant couldn't turn up. We found out that the two of them came to Sibu just to get all of us, the former trainees from that camp, to fill in some forms. While me and Jennifer were talking to Mr. Hasrol, a group of people kept on looking and smiling at me. They seemed to recognize me but I just couldn't remember who they were. One of them looked like a friend of mine but I was sure that it wasn't her. Were we from the same batch? I have no idea ._.

Once we were done, I lurked around the shopping complex with Jennifer. We entered random outlets looking at random stuff until her friend whom she met during National Service called her saying that she was coming to join us. So, I basically made a new friend today, Rita :D

She left and joined another group of friends after some time though. Me and Jennifer walked around until I bumped into my junior, Saidi and my senior, Reza, whom I haven't seen for a long time! We coincidentally re-met with Rita again during lunch hour. All the eating places were full until we finally went into Manna Cafe. The environment was very nice and it was located on the 5th floor of the building. Too bad there weren't much choices of cuisines.

Right after I made my order, I met my former principal, Mr. Charles. I remember the last time I saw and talked to him was before he left the school in order to become Sibu Division Education Officer. That was like... 4 years ago! I was in the cafe with my friends for quite some time. Well, we were chatting about random stuff including anime and manga. They even told me that One Piece is a great series and worth watching. Hahahaha XD

When we were about to head home. I came across Roszelia, who was my former classmate when I was 13 and was also my roommate during National Service. She still looked the same even after a year.

Those pretty much sum up what happened to me today. I met quite a number of unexpected people. It felt nice though :P

My new temporary class fails

Yeah, my class has been moved to another block because our original class is going to be used for exam. Guess what? We got the worst and dirtiest class of all. It's located on the highest floor too and the other classes next to us are empty. Jonathan's class is lucky because they are going to use the air-conditioned room located right below us to study. Unfair! Good thing it will only last for 5 days.

Well, today was a pretty good day. When I was heading to the canteen with my friends, Barry suddenly called me and handed me a gift. I was like 'huh?' since there was no special occasion today. I received it and haha, there were a small card and candies inside. Thanks! I never thought I would be such a nice friend to have? XD

I finally got to play my PSP on my laptop too. Big screen ftw! I installed something called RemoteJoy Lite for that. I never realized its existence before.

While I was playing Dissidia: Final Fantasy, this song kept on repeating in my head. The title is 'To Zanarkand'. It is originally made for Final Fantasy X but I personally feel that Dissidia version sounds better and nicer~

Lastly, good luck to all PMR and MUET candidates. All the best for you guys!

Awards Day + Baba & Siam Cafe

We had our school's awards day today. The decorations of the stage and performances were kind of lame this year. It wasn't as grand as what I was expecting. The ceremony began with speeches from our principal and some special guests which was then continued by the award-giving session. Everything went well until there was a time when Maria didn't notice her name was called due to nervousness causing the turn to be messed up. Imagine this, my name was called when the girl in front of me went up to take her prize. So, I was like 'should I just walk or should I wait until they mention the next name?'. Good thing I just walked and didn't wait for them to announce the next name. Otherwise, my name would be Steffano XD

Also, I got 3 awards and apparently, I was the last one to go up stage during one of the sessions. The weather was hot outside and obviously queuing up there would make me sweat. Jonathan just laughed at me because he could go in earlier >_>

The whole thing ended around 10 am. I went back to get some rest and do random stuff while getting online before going out again at 8 pm with my friends. It was just a simple gathering with Esther, Amy, Da Lung, Gary, Huo Sen, and Kiang Wui since we haven't met the two girls for a long time. Two years for me. Our original plan was to eat at Cafe Cafe but it was full inside. So, Huo Sen drove us all to the new Baba & Siam Cafe to try out the food there. That place is nice I must say. It's clear from the name that they are serving Peranakan and Thai cuisines.

Now, I can't wait for tomorrow! :D

Back to school

After being closed for over a week, school finally started again since holiday has ended. Guess what? I was the first student to arrive at my class today at 6:30 am. Not extremely early since the main gate will be closed at 6:55 am. That was unusual but I had somehow expected it since I knew those early comers wouldn't turn up today. Clara quit Form 6 and Da Lung was sick =/

The first thing I did was changing the number of days left before STPM on the board. Yeah, we're making countdown lol. Wow.. only 59 days left? Ah well, it's still slightly better than those studying in Biology side because theirs will begin in just 54 days :P

The first class of the day was Pure Mathematics. It was pretty relaxing since we could talk freely while doing our works. Apparently, me, Ruth, and Billy were discussing about random stuff until the topic of felines and canines suddenly jumped in. I really laughed when Billy said 'hey that's your friend!' out of the blue when I mentioned 'St. Bernard puppies'. Hahahahaha! Bernard should really be there! XD

Chemistry class came after that. We calculated the marks for our practicals before submitting them to Malaysian Examinations Council. I could only score 9/10 after converting from the total full mark which was 300. It seems like Physics is better since I got perfect 10. Really worth my time doing all the 15 experiments.

Even with all the good things happening, I found that the class has became less livelier without Clara. She used to talk and joke a lot with us. I guess we wouldn't be able to see her for quite some time. One more thing, a type of disease named Chikungunya has started attacking those people living at my friends' house areas! That somehow freaked me out. It's a type of viral disease transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. More information can be found HERE. That was the reason why Da Lung was absent. Jennifer even went back earlier today because she has somehow started feeling itchy on her her skin. Hopefully, they will recover soon.

I then went into the Physics lab and spent almost 3 hours in there studying. That was humdrum but I still survived. We had our lunch break after that. Since we had nothing to do after eating, we formed a group and started playing a random meaningless game where we had to create English words based on the given alphabets as initiators. In order to make it more challenging, we started off with 2 alphabets at a time. For example, if the given characters were 'Xy', then we had to spit out anything starting from those such as 'Xylem' within the limited given time. We even continued playing along the way to Chemistry lab. Yes, Chemistry lesson again in the afternoon -_-

I only got home at around 3:25 pm. I even laughed when I checked my phone since William sent a picture of something. Hahahaha nice one, Bernard! I shall request for more >D

All I can say is today was a good day except that it was tiring and filled with uber laziness plus procrastination ftw :D

Reunion

We were supposed to have a reunion with our secondary school's classmates today. Too bad that only 8 people turned up. Well, it was better than no one, right? It was awesome though because I haven't seen some of them for 2 years ;)

Even with that small amount of people, we could still have fun for hours. The first thing we did was having lunch together at Pizza Hut. Our original plan was to eat at KFC but that place was full of people and the seats were almost full.

Ruzana and Hidayah arrived while we were eating. They couldn't stay for long and left after a few minutes. After paying for stuff, we walked around and took some pictures. I'll share one of them here :)

Marcovy went back after that since he had something to do. So, basically there were only 5 people left. Ah well, that didn't stop us from having fun. We walked around doing random things while chatting until some started complaining that they felt tired. Everyone then went back after spending time together for over 4 hours when it was about rain XD

Overall, it was a really nice gathering and see you guys again next time! =D

Another fun day!

No, I didn't hear anything like going to movie again today when I woke up XD

Well, I made a plate of home-made Kampua for breakfast and it turned out pretty well. Nothing much happened in the morning and it was raining heavily. While I was sitting in front of my laptop, my aunt suddenly called my phone asking me to go out with her.

Driving was hard due to the heavy downpour. We both headed to a Buddhist temple to pray for my late grandfather.

It was calm and peaceful inside aside from being enormous.

We then went to McDonald for lunch. We had to drive for about 30 minutes just to find a place to park the car. Well, good thing we could go there in the end. I ordered the new Big & Tasty. The meal was labelled as 'NEW' so yeah. It was pretty disappointing because it didn't look big at all. I guess Bernard was right when he said Cheeseburger is much better -_-

It continued raining until the evening. Thank god it stopped or my family's plan to go to the U.K. Fun Fair would be ruined. We went there around 6:40pm. The entrance fee was 2MYR and you have to use tokens to play all the games in there. Each token costs 2MYR. Also, I found out that all the games started with 2 tokens. I walked around the mini games area at first and tried out some of them.

This one was pretty hard since you have to hit all the cans. We almost got it but failed >_>

The next game was created for Hello Kitty's lovers I guess since all the prizes were Hello Kitty plush toys. My sister tried it but didn't get anything XD

As for this one, you have to pick some random papers from the box and if you're lucky, you'll win the big toys. I didn't see anyone getting anything. I guess it was normal for that kind of game :P

Aha, playing this game was pretty funny. My sister kept on throwing the rings fast and obviously, none hit the target. It was hard I must say XD

Of course there were other games as well. I played the basketball game since no one tried it and an English man kept on asking people to play. I kind of pitied him so I just gave a try even though I know nothing about basketball. None of my balls went into the net. Sigh.. I should have brought Huo Sen along since he is a good basketball player. Unexpectedly, other people started to gather around there and tried the game after watching me playing and because of that, the man gave me another free extra ball. Sweet :D

We then headed to the area where you get to play Roller Coaster, Ferris Wheel, Ghost Train and many more.

I tried one of them where you will be spinning high up. It was great especially when I got the see the whole view of the fun fair from above :D

Right before it started spinning.

Wee~

Next, we gave a shot to something called Tagada. I had no idea what it was at first even after getting some explanations from my parents. I guess the best thing to do was to try out myself. I spent 2 tokens and sat in there with my sisters and other people.

It looked like a normal spinning game, right? WRONG! That was even more epic. The machine kept on spinning and bumping with a very high speed while moving randomly. I remember seeing how some people screaming nonstop. All of us were thrown up for countless times. The best thing about the game was we had to grab and hold anything we could since there was nothing like safety belt. Otherwise, we would definitely fall down. I seriously felt like as if I was in some sort of pub or disco since my head was like shaking continuously until my neck hurt a little. Also, there was a guy standing in the middle while dancing according to the music throughout the game. We were amazed seeing how he could balance himself very well without falling. FREAKING AWESOME!

I will give it a try again the next time I visit the fun fair! We went home after some time and I can now watch fireworks from my room.

What a strategic location XD

Family day

I guess today was the day when I actually spent most of my time with my family because what I normally do are lurking and leeching stuff from internet for like the whole day.

The first thing I heard this morning after I woke up was "we're going out for movie today". That was from dad. So, I was like 'OK' since it didn't interest me that much. Then, I went to make breakfast until my sisters joined in and started cooking their own meals. I had egg omelette with sausage and cheese inside plus chicken nuggets with a glass of Milo. Pretty filling breakfast :)

I signed in into my MSN and visited random sites as usual. MH and YouTube are the best! Apparently, someone texted me on phone wishing good morning and I didn't notice since I left my phone in my room. Ah well.. XD

I went off after 1 hour plus since mom said we would be going out for lunch before the movie started. We raided KFC and the Cheezy Chickaroni I was craving for a few weeks back was finally available for sale. I ordered that just to find out if it was as bad as what Billy described but hey, it was pretty good except for the chicken meatballs. I was expecting something more home-made.

Movie started at 1pm. The title was 'Aliens in the Attic' but I didn't really care since I'm not that into movies anyway unless you're talking about Japanese ones. So yeah, I bought popcorn which is like a MUST for movies. The movie was pretty good. The people inside kept on laughing watching all the funny scenes although they didn't seem that funny to me. The whole situation was a little irritating but I could still stand it anyway.

We stopped at a bookstore to buy some animanga-related magazines after that and lol, one of them came up with free Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle 'pink packets' for the coming Hari Raya/ Eid celebration. Kind of epic because the actual colour is supposed to be green XD

I spent the whole evening reading those magazines and doing random stuff. The whole family then went to Cafe Cafe for dinner. Yeah, it was the cafe I reviewed before. I brought along my PSP instead of laptop. It's lighter and easier to be carried anyway. I used their free wifi to lurk Google, YouTube, AE, Skype etc while waiting for my order to arrive. The speed was quite fast I must admit.

The flash was from my phone.

It was relaxing sitting in the cafe. The lighting and music were great. I realised that most of the waiters are bishies. I bet it will turn chaotic if extreme otakus ever enter the cafe. I took these two pictures out of random. The environment was dark but I didn't turn on my phone's flash. It would be awkward if people noticed me taking photos :P

It was still raining when we headed home. Well, more like it has been raining every day for almost a week.

Also, there is something interesting happening in my neighbourhood. I have been hearing fireworks every night for a week until now. It's not as happening as how it was during Chinese New Year but the fireworks are still loud enough. Well, that's all for today~

New layout

I've finally fixed the comment box problem and changed the layout of my blog as well. It doesn't look as colourful as the previous one because I was trying to match it with the new banner. Just in case you're wondering who is the blue-haired guy up there, he is actually Shion Kaito from a voice-synthesizing program by Yamaha known as Vocaloid. It's truly one of the best and most epic programs ever created. I have been looking for the download link of this application for weeks but I still can't find any. Well, I did find one yesterday but the link appeared to be broken and it only mentioned that after I have registered on the download site. Sigh.. I guess the only thing I can do is to purchase it but where can I get one here? >_>

Anyway, my last exam finally ended at 10:55am this morning and I think I did better this time. My friends even took my paper and marked it right away without my knowing after that since they got the answers. Surprisingly enough, I managed to score over 40 out of 60 marks even though I didn't really study for that paper due to laziness and tiredness XD

My STPM time table has been released by MPM too today. It seems like STPM will only start on the 23th of November for me unlike some of my friends who have to begin sitting on the 19th since they are taking Bio papers instead of Physics. Bwahahaha! Another reason why Physics pwns for being one of the last few papers to be examined. Even so, I was a bit disappointed with the time table because I was expecting the whole thing to end before the 10th of December since I was supposed to fly over to KL on that day. Ah well, nothing can be done I guess =/

I'll stop here and sorry for not updating my blog for a pretty long time. I shall post more stuff next time >=D

School life

I suppose I should write something about my life sometimes [I'm following Sally's advice XD]. Well, met some of my juniors again since today was the first day of school for Lower 6 students. Of course there were some new faces from other schools as well. The funny thing was around half of them were caught for arriving late at school and can you actually imagine that on the first day? Not to mention how some got scolded by our super strict discipline teacher especially those who dyed their hair.

Right after our morning assembly ended, we received our new schedules for both exams and classes. To tell the truth, I didn't really like the new timetable for classes since there are lots of additional hours for Physics, Chemistry and Pure Maths especially on Mondays when we have to enter the Physics lab for 2 hours or so. Sigh, sounds boring huh? As for the exams' one, I was happy with it. We'll be having only one paper per day for hmm, let me see.. 8 days. Not bad at all :3

Other than those mentioned above, school went on like usual except for the last 1 hour where we didn't have any learning session going on. I wasn't in the mood for studying and so did my friends that we ended up wasting our time talking about random stuff or I guess I could put it in a better and nicer way; 'enhancing our bluffology skills'.

And lol, talking about bluffing, I actually sat for my Malaysian University English Test on the previous week. I really enjoyed the whole thing especially the speaking session. Being in the quarantine room doing nothing with another two candidates [my friends] for over 2 hours waiting for our turn to be tested sure wasn't a fun thing. We were actually teamed up for the speaking test. Obviously, we could practise or plan for our group conversation just like what the other groups did but meh, laziness beat everything and procrastinating seemed to be the best thing to do =P. At the moment we entered the exam room, we were like cold, hungry, sleepy and over-relaxed. Everything went well until the group discussion part which almost turned the whole test into a mess.

At first, we spoke normally and I agreed with Candidate A's view [each of us were named by letters and I was Candidate B] until Candidate C said "I'm sorry Candidate B but I have to disagree with you". Then we started arguing until it turned out into a real debate between the two of us. This Candidate C was pretty smart though. He attacked me with Biology facts knowing that I'm a Physics student who doesn't take Biology in Form 6. Fortunately, my brain hatched some ideas [bluffology again XD] and I managed to defeat him until he finally agreed with us. Also, the given time wasn't long enough since we could continue arguing. I laughed when we walked out of the room because it looked like Candidate A and the examiners had a really great time watching us fighting. Of course there was no hard feeling considering the fact we contend every day and the three of us actually sit together in class. Oh well, at least we have somehow entertained them =P

Now all I have to do is wait for my result which will be announced in either July or August. Hopefully, I'll get what I want or I'll retake again in the end of the year.

I guess that's all for now. Until next time people~

Sibu is flooded!! [again]

It has been raining non-stop for two days here and the water level keeps on rising until today. It is certainly not a good thing since some of the schools have to be closed down and even me can't get out of the house now. Not to mention our car which is trapped outside.

R.I.P. guys

Two of my friends, Eric and Zul [1990-2008] had just passed away around 1 week ago due to car accidents which happened in different cities. One of them used to be my classmate while the other one is a friend I met during National Service. May their souls rest in peace..
